Our Student of the Month!

GO LANDON!!!

Landon was chosen as Student of the Month for all of kindergarten!!! Way to go, Landon! I am so proud of your good behavior and your working hard in school.
Today was also a bittersweet day. It was the boy's last day at their school. Next week they will be starting a new school because we are buying a house in town. We are excited about the move but sad to be leaving our great teachers and friends. Please pray for us in this transition. I have met the boy's new teachers. I am very impressed!! I will post more later next week.

Ukraine Reunion

Tonight we had our Ukraine reunion/report at our church. It was so much fun to see many of our past team members. We all had a GREAT time visiting and remembering about the trip. I wrote to many of our interpreters and received 8 letters from them. As a surprise to the other Americans, I read parts of their letters. They were so sweet!! It felt like they were there by reading their words.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Opening presents

We celebrated Mrs. Jackson's birthday yesterday but it was really today! She turned 65 years old! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Prairie Dress

This is before church this morning. Mrs. Jackson's mom made this dress. We have two of them because she made them for Mrs. Jackson's twin neices. Thanks again, Aunt Bev for the dresses.

Fabulous Friday with Fay

The boy's school was cancelled on Friday due to an approaching tropical storm. We woke on Friday and it was raining and at this writing hasn't stopped yet. That means LOTS of indoor time and sooooooooooooooooo much energy. We made it through yesterday although by the end of the day I was ready to ship the kids back to Gran and Papa or Uncle Josh and Aunt Summer. First we went to look at the house we are interested in and the kids were running around all crazy. I was giving spankings and sending to time out. Well, I go outside because they were all laughing about something. And guess what the laughing was about: Parker Reid standing under the eve of the house getting soaked with the water pouring off the roof. The other two had told him to do it. Surprise! Surprise! After an early dinner, Parker Reid decided that it was his turn to be sick (so the count for sickness is 4 out of 6, not counting the other Jacksons). He was running a high fever all night and slept on the bathroom floor because I didn't want to clean up bodily fluids from anywhere. I got them all in the bed about 7 pm. WHEW!! That was a day! It was so quiet and peaceful. I was standing talking to the Jacksons in the kitchen and the wind had picked up outside. We heard this vibrating and popping sound, looked out the front windown and the transformer was exploding. We ran to unplug anything we could but were assuming the worst for the computers, tvs and other appliances. We looked out then and the edge of the front yard was ON FIRE. Yes, the ground was so wet but it was burning and it was an electrical fire. It wasn't going out on its own so we called the fire department who took forever to find the house. Finally, they arrived and blocked off two roads. We still had no electricity. I went to bed because I was exhausted. The Jacksons hauled all the refrigerator things to the school so we wouldn't loose them. Georgia Power came but the wind was still too strong so they left. Somewhere in the middle of the night they came back and finished but we had turned the breaker switch off so had no electricity until morning. It was interesting and we are thankful everything survived. I am posting some pictures but they are a little dark and a video of the surges of electricity coming from the wire.

And the fortune teller said...

Last night we had Chinese food for dinner and after we had fortune cookies. This is what Sydney Katya's fortune said: You will always get what you want through your charm and personality! Just wanted to share.
