The boy's school was cancelled on Friday due to an approaching tropical storm. We woke on Friday and it was raining and at this writing hasn't stopped yet. That means LOTS of indoor time and sooooooooooooooooo much energy. We made it through yesterday although by the end of the day I was ready to ship the kids back to Gran and Papa or Uncle Josh and Aunt Summer. First we went to look at the house we are interested in and the kids were running around all crazy. I was giving spankings and sending to time out. Well, I go outside because they were all laughing about something. And guess what the laughing was about: Parker Reid standing under the eve of the house getting soaked with the water pouring off the roof. The other two had told him to do it. Surprise! Surprise! After an early dinner, Parker Reid decided that it was his turn to be sick (so the count for sickness is 4 out of 6, not counting the other Jacksons). He was running a high fever all night and slept on the bathroom floor because I didn't want to clean up bodily fluids from anywhere. I got them all in the bed about 7 pm. WHEW!! That was a day! It was so quiet and peaceful. I was standing talking to the Jacksons in the kitchen and the wind had picked up outside. We heard this vibrating and popping sound, looked out the front windown and the transformer was exploding. We ran to unplug anything we could but were assuming the worst for the computers, tvs and other appliances. We looked out then and the edge of the front yard was ON FIRE. Yes, the ground was so wet but it was burning and it was an electrical fire. It wasn't going out on its own so we called the fire department who took forever to find the house. Finally, they arrived and blocked off two roads. We still had no electricity. I went to bed because I was exhausted. The Jacksons hauled all the refrigerator things to the school so we wouldn't loose them. Georgia Power came but the wind was still too strong so they left. Somewhere in the middle of the night they came back and finished but we had turned the breaker switch off so had no electricity until morning. It was interesting and we are thankful everything survived. I am posting some pictures but they are a little dark and a video of the surges of electricity coming from the wire.
